The company was honored in the first edition of the National Road Safety Award for the results achieved through its preventive management of heavy transport operations and the community impact of its “Salvando Vidas” program.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – DOMICEM was recognized by the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) in the first edition of the National Road Safety Award for implementing a model that combines risk prevention in its heavy transport operations with educational and protective initiatives aimed at motorcyclists.
The recognition, awarded in the Corporate Road Safety Management category, highlights the measures implemented by the company to strengthen the safety of its fleet, as well as the impact of its “Salvando Vidas” program, an initiative that began among employees and contractors and was subsequently extended to residents of Sabana Grande de Palenque.
“‘Salvando Vidas’ was created to raise awareness, promote respect for traffic regulations, and protect those who share the roads with us. We believe that preventing accidents is also a way of caring for our communities,” said Adriano Brunetti, CEO of DOMICEM.
Prevention with Measurable Results
DOMICEM operates a fleet of more than 60 trucks, making approximately 20,300 trips per year. To reduce the risks associated with these operations, the company has implemented ongoing defensive driving training, GPS monitoring, technical inspections, random alcohol testing, psychotechnical assessments, and systematic incident monitoring.
These measures have delivered tangible results. DOMICEM’s road safety index, which measures accidents attributable to its drivers per million kilometers traveled, decreased from 1.6 in 2023 to less than 1.0 in 2026, reflecting a sustained improvement in its prevention and safe-driving standards.
From Operations to the Community
“Salvando Vidas” was launched in 2023 with awareness sessions attended by more than 180 employees and contractors. At the same time, the company organized initiatives for driver’s license renewals and motorcycle registration, benefiting more than 500 people, including residents of Sabana Grande de Palenque.
In 2024, the initiative was expanded to include technical motorcycle inspections and the distribution of 379 helmets, lights, and reflective vests to employees and contractors who use motorcycles for their daily commute.
The program was subsequently extended to the streets and motorcycle taxi stands across the municipality, where more than 500 people took part in awareness sessions on responsible driving, proper helmet use, and compliance with traffic regulations.
These activities were complemented by further driver’s license renewal and motorcycle registration initiatives that benefited more than 300 people, facilitating community access to services related to regulatory compliance and safe driving.
DOMICEM was one of 13 companies recognized in the first edition of the National Road Safety Award, created to highlight corporate initiatives that contribute to preventing road accidents and strengthening road safety in the Dominican Republic.
