The Minister of the Environment visits the CAT plant
A new confirmation of CAT’s commitment to a sustainable environment
The CAT-Colacem plant, the Group’s Tunisian operation, was the subject of a surprise visit by the Minister of the Environment, Mr. Habib Abid, accompanied by the Governor of Tunis, Mr. Imed Boukhris, Member of Parliament Mr. Amine El Ouerghi, the Delegate of Jebel Jelloud Mr. Rami Seddik, the Chairman and CEO of ONAS, the Regional Director of ONAS, the Regional Director of the Environment, as well as numerous local and regional representatives.
The visit began with a working meeting at the CAT-Colacem headquarters, during which several topics were addressed and discussed. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Andrea Salinelli, recalled that CAT-Colacem has been a member of the Global Compact for several years and that, as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, it will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and local authorities to contribute to environmental protection and to the development of social initiatives for local partners and communities.
Mr. Salinelli also highlighted that, within this framework, CAT-Colacem has already launched several initiatives, particularly the development of alternative fuels, the use of renewable energy, and the reuse of wastewater within the production process.
Accompanied by Andrea Salinelli and several CAT-Colacem managers, the Minister of the Environment and the entire delegation visited various areas of the plant, observing first-hand the main environmental protection measures and investments carried out by the company, as well as the new technologies and best practices adopted in this field. The visitors also toured the laboratory, gaining insight into the level of quality control applied to the different products.
This visit once again confirms the strong relationships established by CAT-Colacem with its national and local partners and further strengthens its reputation as a transparent and responsible company, committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for its stakeholders and the surrounding community.
