CAT-COLACEM AMONG 8 AFRICAN EXCELLENCES FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE ACCORDING TO THE UN GLOBAL COMPACT
CAT-Colacem has been included by the United Nations Global Compact, in the publication Catalysts for Change in Africa, among eight African companies recognized for their contribution to sustainability.
An important international recognition highlights CAT-Colacem’s sustainability journey. In the publication Catalysts for Change in Africa, the United Nations Global Compact included the Tunisian company among eight African businesses selected as examples of concrete action for a sustainable future. CAT-Colacem’s case is presented in the chapter dedicated to the decarbonization of the cement industry in Tunisia, with particular focus on CO₂ emissions reduction targets, the use of alternative fuels, the development of renewable energy — including the shared 100 MW solar park project — and a pathway aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Among the elements highlighted in the report are CAT-Colacem’s commitment to reduce CO₂ emissions by 50% by 2030, an approach based on innovation and partnerships, and the ability to drive change beyond company boundaries, contributing to the sustainable evolution of the sector. This recognition comes from the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative and confirms the value of the work carried out by the people of CAT-Colacem, in line with the Group’s vision. This achievement is not only a source of pride, but also a further confirmation that industrial innovation, environmental and social responsibility can move forward together to build a sustainable future.
