The Sesto Campano Colacem cement factory has recently been granted environmental certification according to the UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 standard, by ICMQ, ‘Istituto terzo di Certificazione per i Marchi di Qualità’ (Ceritification Institute for High Quality Brands). This is tangible proof of the principles that have always guided our corporate choices, with ongoing commitment to our internal and external stakeholders: an industrial policy and approach, which have always been focused on sustainability.
This certification is yet another milestone reached by the company, within less than one year of having been granted the IPPC, the ‘Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control’, by the Molise region.
A path towards sustainability that Colacem has voluntarily undertaken and continued over the years, which has been continuously confirmed, thanks to concrete actions and projects, which go far beyond the law obligations and requirements in all of the Group production sites.
The Colacem management system complies with the ISO 14001 standard (which is a voluntary certification) and ensures timely monitoring and control on those production processes that may affect various environmental aspects.
This is further confirmation of the company philosophy, which combines research together with innovation, efficiency and environmentally-friendly processes with the utmost attention to human resources and occupational health and safety matters, thanks to the implementation of the most innovative technologies available in the reference sector.
In fact, Colacem aims at pursuing not only economic and financial –oriented goals, which are nevertheless always important, but especially at encouraging and spreading culture and social activities throughout the communities where it conducts its business, always feeling a strong sense of belonging to each community. The achievement of this very important target has been made possible thanks to the ongoing synergetic activity carried out by the Environmental Dept. of the Central Technical Direction Division, as well as the Plant Director together with his technical staff.
This is the sixth certification obtained by the Gubbio–based company in its complete-cycle production sites, following the certification already granted to the Gubbio (PG), Rassina (AR), Caravate (VA), Ragusa and Galatina (LE) plants.
All this entails a significant commitment and dedication to sustainability, which is clearly described and detailed in the corporate ‘Annual Sustainability Report’, drawn up according to the most evolved international standard (G4 del GRI), and available on the corporate website.
