Colacem inaugurates the “Factory Library”: a space that fosters connections

A project that places people and culture at its core

Colacem inaugurated the “Factory Library” on Tuesday, November 4, at its Gubbio headquarters—an initiative designed to promote relationships, knowledge, and shared thinking within the workplace.

The event featured sociologist and economist Mauro Magatti, professor at the Catholic University of Milan, as guest speaker. In his lecture, “Artificial Intelligence: The Frontier Where Work, Society, and Culture Change,” he invited participants to reflect on how innovation should not reduce human beings to mere cogs in a machine, but rather create spaces for meaning and freedom. During the event, he also presented the book “Macchine Celibi” (“Celibate Machines”), co-authored with Chiara Giaccardi, which offers a vision of work that integrates technology and humanity—avoiding closed, sterile processes and fostering the creative power of human relationships.

In his welcome remarks, Cavaliere del Lavoro Carlo Colaiacovo, CEO of Colacem, emphasized that “The Factory Library is a tangible expression of our idea of enterprise: innovation through collaboration and dialogue. We believe that economic value can emerge from the encounter between people and knowledge, in a mindset that is open to the world.”

The event was attended by more than 300 participants, including company executives and employees, local citizens, and representatives of local institutions such as Massimiliano Presciutti, President of the Province of Perugia, and Vittorio Fiorucci, Mayor of Gubbio.

The “Factory Library” project will gradually be extended to Colacem’s other production sites in Italy and abroad.
